how awesome are these?!?!? my boyfriend, in a moment of genius, bought me the new miniature cans of dr pepper. just had to take some pics to show you the awesomeness!!! all of the pics are of full size cans (12 fl oz) compared to the mini cans (7.5 fl oz). they are so cute!!!

rock bottom

one of my favorite restaurants in chicago. mostly because you know what you're going to get when you go there. it's a micro-brewery. so they have a beer oriented menu, mostly bar foods expanded to be entrees and a very personalized beer selection. they have ok-ish beer. i prefer the walleye wheat and one of the rotating stouts. but i always go back for the dp. they serve it in the largest glasses AND they give free refills. the best!!! they are not stingy with the portions at this place!

target

i'm sure thing is incredibly unhelpful to everyone actually looking for a restaurant the serves dp. but i really just want to know where i can either get fountain dp or refrigerated cans. so target is the place to go. in their food court, they serve dp in their fountain soda dispenser. so if you're out shopping pick yourself up a fountain dp, not just a bottle from the cash register coolers. (but the one at elston and western has a panera across the street and you could just go there.)

IIT Life Sciences

a little on the off-beat side, but i have to tell the world about it. diet dr pepper in a vending machine!!! if you are anywhere near 31st and state and are craving dp, there's a vending machine in the life sciences building (on the corner of 31st and state) just inside the entrance. every time i go to class in this building i'm always amazed that they provide such a random choice. now i love dp. and i do enjoy a diet dp, but i have never seen it in a vending machine that isn't an actual dp vending machine. (those are few and far between and i'll have to write it up next time i see one.) this is one of those machine where you can stock it with whatever you want. and it shows actual bottles above each selection button. diet dp! who knew?!? and if the machine is out, there's a 7 eleven in the building at 33rd and state so you can get additional dp there.

Corner Bakery

totally no idea about the awesomeness that was their fountain soda bar. i've been into several of these and i never once noticed that they served my favorite beverage. then... this past weekend my bf was in town for my birthday. after a walk along the lake shore, we needed a quiet place to sit and a warm beverage. i really could have gone for anything, including my daily dose of dp, but not knowing that they could supply me with it i went for the tea instead. oh was i disappointed when i went to put sugar in my tea! there was the fountain soda machine mocking me with it's dr. pepper dispenser!!! now i know. always ask if they serve dp. always ask. you never know!

Busy Burger!

so i'm finally going local! right down the street from me (well really the alley) there's a great burger spot called busy burger (1120 w taylor). they have the most delicious burgers; i want one now just thinking about them. i normally get the turkey burger with cheese - i don't eat red meat - with a can of dr pepper. yeah i that's what i meant... A CAN! got to love them. they are stocked with the whole a&w line of sodas in cans plus in the fountain they have the r.c. cola line-up. super old school. plus if they have onion rings get them. they only make so many per day, and they are fabulous!

i know... another national chain... but hey! you can't beat the spicy chicken sandwich. or apparently the spicy chicken nuggets. when i was there yesterday, a guy was on the phone telling someone how much he liked the nuggets. i don't think that he specifically called them to tell them, but he liked them so much he was obviously compelled to tell them about the nuggets. anyways, they always have regular dr pepper in the fountain. so drink up. you'll need it to wash down that spicy chicken sandwich.

panera bread

i don't know if this applies to all of their locations nationwide, but it is a fact that all chicago panera breads have dr pepper in their fountain machines. each week when i go grocery shopping, i stop by the panera bread at canal and roosevelt and get myself a fountain dp. usually with a toasted chocolate chip bagel with plain cream cheese. (and this is my breakfast. well... the first meal of the day. usually around noon.) today was no exception. i needed to go grocery shopping and i didn't even need to go to the whole foods, which is next door. i stopped by for my pre-grocery shopping meal and as always the dp was in stock. i even gave one of the cashiers a scare when i quickly said something about how they always need it in stock. he quickly moved from around the counter and offered to switch out the tank in the back. i had to correct him and say that the dr pepper was in fact working, but that what i had said was that they should always have it. that they should always provide it. i have to say that it's nice to know that they are eager to help me get my fix.

still working out the kinks...

i'm trying to create my own layout for this blog. and it's proving to be more difficult then expected. but it's slowly working out. like the logo. just finally got it into place. now for what should go to the right of it. we'll see.

makes me want a diet...

chi-town loves dr pepper

i love dr pepper so much that everywhere i go to eat i ask if they have it. and am disappointed when they don't. i love dr pepper and diet dr pepper. i periodically visit the dr pepper web site and spend crazy amounts of time on it. i have even have an account so i can see if i won any of their contests! i love dr pepper jelly belly jelly beans and bonnie bell's lip smackers lip gloss in dr pepper (though not the taste!). and i think that it should be served at restaurants everywhere!!!!
